Filmmaker Ari Gold Makes ‘Frogger: The Movie’

One of the funniest and oddest features at this year’s Sundance Film Festival was a resolutely offbeat film about an air-drumming dreamer called The Adventures of Power, co-starring Entourage’s Adrian Grenier and directed by one Ari Gold. Yes — his name is Ari Gold, and the Entourage folks evidently “borrowed” his name for the show’s loathsome-lovable agent. (Gold and Grenier also play in the band the Honey Brothers together.) And although Power was Gold’s first feature film, many veteran Sundance viewers were familiar with him — three of his shorts had previously screened at the festival. One of them, 1996’s Frog Crossing, co-directed by Jamie Babbit (But I’m a Cheerleader), is another look at a crazy dreamer: A hyper enviro-conscious man stands by an empty stretch of highway warning passing motorists to brake for frogs. Meanwhile, a woman drives along the same highway, happily munching on her snacks, oblivious to the world around her. Needless to say, it’s only a matter of time before these two lonely souls connect. —Bilge Ebiri

Pete Wentz - Wentz Defends Simpsons Secret Pregnancy

PETE WENTZ has defended his decision to keep his wife ASHLEE SIMPSON's pregnancy a secret from the media - insisting he wanted to "protect her and the baby".

The couple was dogged by baby rumours for weeks, but refused to confirm the news until Wednesday (28May08) - after Simpson had passed the first trimester of her pregnancy.

And the Fall Out Boy guitarist felt it was only right to keep the news quiet until his wife was given a full bill of health from doctors.

He tells MTV.com, "Every woman, no matter who they are or what they do for a living, has the right to wait at least three months before sharing this very personal news. We wanted to wait until after the first trimester before confirming anything, just like any other couple.

"Being a boy I have no idea how to respond to such things and my first instinct was to protect her and the baby.

"It's insane that you can't let happy news brew in Hollywood. This wasn't about press or anything. It was about the health of the baby and trying to find a way to be happy with what should be the most happy time of our lives in the middle of a press blitz.

"I apologize to anyone who felt misinformed but the truth is, the person and growing baby is who I felt most loyal to protect and defend."

The pair wed in Encino, California earlier this month (17May08).

Kylie tells Britney to "reach out" for help

Pop singer Kylie Minogue has advised troubled star Britney Spears to "reach out" for whatever help she needs.
Speaking to The Sun, Australian singer Minogue said: "Who knows what is going on in her life? Britney isn't that young anymore. I think she will still come back but it's like she's taken an extended holiday."
She continued: "Whatever help she needs, she should reach out and get it. I wish someone would write a manual about fame because it's not easy."
The singer also said: "I'm always loath to say that because there are a lot more difficulties out there that people deal with every day - but when fame is handed to you, it is unique."
She added: "It's not to the same extreme, but I can remember having a mini-meltdown myself - and unless you've got good people around to support you, you've got a problem."

Star returns in Prison Break twist

It is reported that actress Sarah Wayne Callies will return as Dr Sara Tancredi for the fourth series of 'Prison Break'.
Fans had thought that Callies' character was killed during season three because of a scene with a Polaroid of her head in a box.
Speaking to E! about Callies' return, the show's executive producer Matt Olmstead said: "It wasn't because of the fans that we did that, but it was the combination of the fans' reactions on the boards and emails, and people we, the writers, know personally would ask about it. And that led us all to have conversations internally, about the fact that there were a lot of people out there asking, "Is she really dead?"
He continued: "We knew internally that when we didn't get Sarah Wayne Callies to come back in season three and be there to portray her character's death, as soon as it was written and filmed and we saw it on screen, we knew that it was actually a way you could describe how this wasn't Sarah's head in the box, basically. But at that point, we were going forward with other stories, so we kind of put that on the back burner."
He added: "But throughout that time we watched how people externally were really talking about what we thought might be the case, internally: The question of, "Is Sara Tancredi really dead?" So throughout season three we were mindful of references we'd make to and who took credit for killing her and all kinds of stuff regarding her death."
